How to get to Florence

How to reach the meeting location:
The meeting location can be reached by bus from the centre of Florence:

• from the area S. Marco, Duomo, Train Station by BUS 11, direction "Due Strade", stop at "GELSOMINO 1".

  BUS 11 leaves every 10 minutes, it takes about 20 minutes from Piazza Duomo to Gelsomino 1. From the bus stop Gelsomino 1, go back to Viale Poggio Imperiale and climb on Viale Poggio Imperiale, turn on the left and go straight up to Largo Enrico Fermi.

  At Santa Maria Novella train station you can get BUS 11 just outside the station going to your right hand side from the train (Lato Scalette).

• from the area Lungarno, Ponte Vecchio, Ponte alle Grazie by bus 13, stop at "GALILEI 4".

  BUS 13 leaves every 15 minutes, it takes about 20 minutes from the river to GALILEI 4. From the bus stop Galilei 4, cross the street (Viale Galilei) and climb on Via San Leonardo up to Largo Enrico Fermi where the Astronomy Department is located. Please note that Via San Leonardo, after a slope, turns on the right, do not follow Via Viviani.

• from Porta Romana by bus 38A stop at "FERMI" (exactly at the Astronomy Department but only one journey per hour)

Bus tickets must be bought before getting on the bus.

Accomodation:
The Astronomy Department is located in one of the nicest and most scenic hills of Florence, at 30-40 minutes walking distance from the centre of the town.
The area is easily reachable by bus during the day, but the bus frequency reduces significantly during the night.
